It might seem like another small-time raid on an abortion clinic using a botched recipe from The Anarchist's Cookbook. On the morning of March 13, 1999, a bomb exploded outside an abortion clinic in Asheville, North Carolina. The blast didn't injure anyone and didn't cause much damage. But the clinic is one of several that received anthrax hoaxes during the previous month. More importantly, it is located 125 miles west of the area where the search for accused serial bomber Eric Rudolph is focused. Rudolph is suspected in the January 1998 Alabama abortion clinic bombing that killed a security guard and severely injured a nurse. There's a million bucks on his head. Could it be that Rudolph's still actively targeting clinics with a price tag on his ass and a massive FBI task force on his trail? It's possible-and if so, Rudolph would be to abortion clinics what Jesse James was to banks. The group of Americans that are most vulnerable to terrorist attacks are abortion providers. While millions get pumped into beefing up the security of overseas embassies, comparatively little goes into protecting abortion clinics. And the little that does is said to save more lives than the funds earmarked for overseas. Huh?
