A hundred and fifty years ago these guys would have gotten some respect. In fact, Sam Houston would have been at the helm. But it's the late 1990s, so, instead, we get a guy named Richard McLaren, who refers to himself as the Ambassador of the Republic of Texas. The RTM emerged in 1995 with the agenda of seceding Texas from the union, claiming the state was annexed illegally in 1845. The "ambassador" took a couple of hostages in April 1997 to grab some PR, but now is without portfolio in some Texas dungeon.
