Immigrants are more likely to be wasted than people born in the United States. Between 1970 and 1972, immigrants were the victims in about 23 percent of the homicides in California, even though they represented only 17 percent of the population. Non-Latino white immigrants, most of whom emigrate from European countries, are more than twice as likely to be the victim of a homicide than U.S.-born whites.
