On August 25, 1998, grenades or bombs exploded on three different buses in Uganda, killing some 30 people. Guerrillas and others often hide explosives in their luggage that aren't particularly pothole-friendly. They simply detonate accidentally. Other attacks are blamed on Allied Democratic Forces rebels. Grenades seem to be the preferred objects to get tossed around according to the press but often they get it wrong. In 1998, grenade attacks on bars and restaurants in Kampala killed at least 18 people and injured at least 30 others.
