In the best of times, driving into the country north of the Victoria Nile has entailed the sense of entering country so open and vacant that once you're off the track and in trouble, it could be weeks before you're found. Kampala safari operators maintain radio contact with safaris. Should things get hot, they'd likely get their clients out fast; there's a chance they could get you out aboard a light plane with an extra seat. A minor problem is that you might have to kiss your gear good-bye. Depending on distance and danger, count on paying anywhere from US$750 to $10,000. If there is anyone flying out of Entebbe or any other field, the best way to find out would be through Wilson Airport (not Embakazi, out of which the commercial airlines fly) north of Nairobi.
