A small group with a fetish for blowing up automatic teller machines (everyone's enemy) and banks in major cities. What fun. They have about 60 men operating in Tunceli province, in the southeast. They were allied to the PKK operating in the region, but think the PKK are a bunch of wimps for calling a cease-fire. They are also responsible for most of the car bombs that go off in Turkey. As they're a bit more competent at bomb making, the PKK have subcontracted them to do their dirty work in the cities. (The PKK kids don't know the difference between plasticine and plastic explosive.) In March 1999, TIKKO set off a number of car bombs around Ankara. Kawa Kawa is a legendary folk hero among the Kurds. The Kawa group was established in 1976 after breaking away from the Revolutionary Culture Association (DDKD), a pro-Soviet Kurdish group advocating uniting all the Kurdish people under the Marxist banner. Kawa's anti-Soviet stance was the reason for the break with the DDKD. Kawa also fell victim to dissension within its own ranks over the teachings of Mao Tse-tung.
