About 2,000 fighters based in Kunduz, Afghanistan, Taloquan and Jalalabad, the IRP are supported and trained by Gulf state businessmen, Pakistani and Afghan fundamentalists, Libya and Iran. Many trainers and support personnel are connected to Gulbuddin Hekmatyar's Jamaat-e-Islami and Pakistan's ISI. The IRP has a political office in Moscow.
