A spin-off of the SPLA is fighting the SPLA and has captured Akobo and Nyandit. Some say it is a front for the northern government and signed a peace treaty in April of '96. The group is led by Kerubino Kwanyin Bol who was imprisoned by Garang from 1987 to 1992.
