Sudan - Getting Around

Unforeseen circumstances, such as sandstorms (April and September) and electrical outages, may cause flight delays. The Khartoum Airport arrival and departure procedures are lengthy. Passengers should allow three hours for predeparture security and other processing procedures at the airport. There is little to no fuel in the south and vehicles must be hired from Uganda or other countries. Roads and much of the countryside is mined. Food is brought in through aid groups but there are times when no food is available. Outsiders may only travel in the south with the permission of the SRRA/SPLA. Visitors to the north will have visa's applications scrutinized by the government and may not be allowed permission to enter.
