The LTTE is apparently becoming more interested in civilian targets than military troops. A March 5, 1998 LTTE attack on a minibus left 30 dead and more than 300 injured. A bus depot was attacked in October 1997, leaving a security guard dead and 18 buses destroyed. A bomb exploded on a bus in Kandy, killing two and injuring 25 people, on April 11, 1999. There were four bombings in Colombo in March 1999 alone.
