The 3,000-odd lasses who help make up the Tamil Tigresses don't seem to mind taking a bullet or two, either. Some 68 female LTTE guerrillas were whacked during the siege of Mullaittivu. And on July 4, 1996, a female suicide bomber adorned in designer explosive devices crashed into a Jaffna motorcade on her scooter trying to assassinate the minister of construction. He survived, but 23 people were killed and 60 others were injured by the blast. In May 1998, an elite Black "Tigress" hurled herself in front of a vehicle carrying a military general, killing the officer and his two bodyguards. The lady, of course, ended up as accessories in an organ transplant catalog and won't be seen on the cover of ELLE any time soon.
