Apart from the street muggings, which are the most dangerous thing in Russia, extortion is number two. If you're lucky, you'll get mugged and hit up for a bribe. Russians say that 70 to 80 percent of businesses pay extortion demands to criminal groups. Only about 10 to 15 foreigners file extortion charges each year. No it is not tax deductible.
