The ABB is a lethal leftist death squad led by Sergio Romero (who's real name is Nilo de la Cruz) that has taken scores of lives in its 10-year history. These guys are supposed to be the assassin branch of the Communist Party of the Philippines but in reality don't get along with the more moderate NPA. Most recently, the group has been offing Chinese businessmen in sort of an ethnic cleansing of the ranks of the Philippines' industrialists. The leader Nilo who was charged with 200 murders, was nabbed and is awaiting trial and sentencing. They have reduced his sentence so that no judges or government officials wake up with horses heads in their beds. The government has drawn up a list of more than 160 ABB members targeted for arrest. Right now they are down to about 20 active members. As Nilo told me, "thank goodness for pro bono human rights lawyers."
