Phillippines - Getting Around

Accommodations, food and travel in the Philippines offer some of the best bargains found in Asia. The National Railway serves the island of Luzon, from Lagaspi in the south to San Fernando, La Union, in the north. Car rentals are available in the major cities, with or without a driver. Jeepneys are cheap and plentiful in Manila and other large towns. Domestic flights connect Manila daily with about 50 other towns, cities and rural areas. Where scheduled flights do not serve, there are aircraft for charter. Local service is bare-bones basic, with nothing offered but plastic cups of water. Allow plenty of time before departure for security inspection. Around the archipelago there are inter-island sea vessels with first-class accommodations that sail between several different ports daily.
