06/25/50North Korea mounted a surprise invasion of South Korea.
06/27/50U.S. President Harry Truman ordered U.S. combat units into action to enforce the U.N. condemnation of North Korea's invasion of South Korea.
06/28/50The United Nations condemned North Korea's attack of South Korea and decreed a withdrawal of the invading forces.
07/18/94The death of the Great Leader, Kim Il Sung.
07/27/53The armistice ending the Korean War was signed.
09/15/50U.N. Commander General Douglas MacArthur made an amphibious landing at Inchon, behind North Korean lines, and routed the North Korean army.
11/12/94An American army helicopter was shot down in North Korean airspace. One pilot died in the crash, and the other repatriated more than two weeks later.
