NADECO is a coalition of pro-democracy and human rights groups that has been accused of a rash of bombings in 1997. All the bombings have fit the same profile: the targeting of an army transport vehicle using a remote-controlled device. Fifteen suspected members of NADECO, including Nobel Prize-winning writer Wole Soyinka, were charged in March 1997 with conspiring to wage war on the nation and the detonation of bombs. Of the 15 busted, 11 were already in jail and the remaining 4 out of the country, including Soyinka. To date, the government hasn't identified any of the attackers in the dozen or so blasts since December 1996.
