In a six month period, there were 13,852 cases of credit card fraud in Mexico. Foreigners are targeted in restaurants and hotels by seedy employees who steal your credit card number and drain the account like Tiger Woods putting a two-foot birdie. By the time you notice, you're back at home and the MasterCard statement arrives, showing a three-grand payment on a satellite dish (you've already got one!), a two-grand charge on frozen burritos and industrial kitchen equipment, $200 spent on tinted car windows and a lowered suspension and, of course, a $300 debit on a new pair of Tony Lamas.
