The roads leading from Monrovia are passable for limited pre-approved travel, but they can be dangerous. Liberia is accessible by road from Danane, Ivory Coast. Travelers who plan a trip to Liberia are required to have a passport and a visa prior to arrival. Additionally, in order to be granted a visa, you must present to a Liberian embassy a letter stating the purpose of your visit and another from a doctor confirming you have no communicable diseases.
