Monrovia's crime rate is high, regardless of the level of tensions. Foreigners are targets of street criminals, police and anyone who wants to advance their financial status. Residential break-ins are common. Just about all officials will ask for some type of gift. Just act stupid and hand them a Mr. DP sticker.
Things are still volatile here so it is important to check in with your embassy if you want a chopper ride out if things go to hell again.
