This group of about 800 Palestinians follows a Marxist-Leninist doctrine and disagrees with Arafat's deal with the Israelis (Oslo, 1993). The group is led by 56-year old Bassam Abu-Sharif, who was famous for blowing up the Pan Am, Swissair and TWA airliners in Jordan. The PFLP lost a lot of steam when Wadi-Haddad was taken out in 1978. Qaddafi and Assad provide most of the folding green for this hard-line group, which is based in Syria and Lebanon. Abu Sharif has rejected terrorism and has even written a book with a former Israeli intelligence officer called "Best of Enemies.'
