01/15/91Abu Iyad, the second-ranking PLO leader, and two other high-ranking PLO officials are assassinated by a guard suspected of working for the Abu Nidal Organization (ANO).
02/21/70Suspected members of the PFLP-GC place a bomb on a Swissair passenger jet enroute from Zurich to Tel Aviv, resulting in the death of all 47 passengers.
03/16/78Israeli forces invade Lebanon.
03/21/49Palestinian Solidarity Day. Arab solidarity day with the Palestinian people against Israel.

05/20/90A lone Israeli gunman kills eight Arab laborers in Rishon le Ziyyon, south of Tel Aviv. Nine workers are injured. The gunman was identified as a discharged Israeli soldier.
05/30/72Members of the Japanese Red Army (JRA) kill 26 people in a massacre at Lod Airport.
05/31/67Israeli troops capture East Jerusalem in the Six Day War.
06/04/82Israeli planes bomb Beirut.

06/06/82Israel invades Lebanon.
07/04/76The Israeli raid on Entebbe airport in Uganda freeing 103 hostages from a hijacked Israeli airliner.
07/22/68Members of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) hijacked an El Al flight enroute to Tel Aviv and forced it to land in Algiers. The attack marks the first aircraft hijacking by a Palestinian group. The hijackers are said to have believed Israeli General Ariel Sharon was on the flight. The passengers and crew are detained by Algeria for six weeks.
07/28/89Israeli commandos seize Shaykh Obeid from a village in southern Lebanon and detain him in Israel on allegations of involvement in terrorist activity on behalf of Hezbollah.
07/30/97Fifteen people are killed in two suicide bomb blasts in Jerusalem.
09/06/72Palestinian Black September terrorists massacre Israeli athletes at the Munich Olympics.
09/09/93The PLO and Israel sign a mutual recognition agreement.
09/13/94Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization sign a peace agreement in Washington, D.C., outlining a plan for Palestinian self-rule in the Israeli Occupied Territories.

10/08/90Eighteen Arabs died during clashes with police at the Temple Mount religious site.
10/11/94The Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Central Council approves Chairman Yasir Arafat's peace deal with Israel by a vote of 63 to eight, with 11 members abstaining or absent.
11/02/17Anniversary of the Balfour Declaration, which promised a Jewish homeland in Palestine. Demonstrations in the Occupied Territories and the Gaza Strip area have occurred on this date.
11/04/96Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin assassinated by right-wing extremist.
12/09/87Date used to mark the beginning of the intifada, or uprising on the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
12/16/91The United Nations General Assembly repeals the 1975 resolution which said Zionism is a form of racism.
12/17/92More than 400 suspected members of Hamas are forcibly expelled from Israel into Lebanon, following the kidnap-murder of an Israeli border policeman. The expellees are refused entry into Lebanon and forced to camp in the Israeli-controlled security zone in south Lebanon.
