Mehrabad International Airport is seven miles west of Tehran, about a 30-minute drive. Airport facilities include a 24-hour bank, a 24-hour post office, a 24-hour restaurant, a snack bar, a 24-hour duty-free shop, gift shops, 24-hour tourist information and first aid/vaccination facilities. Airline buses are available to the city for a fare of RL10 (travel time: 30 minutes). Taxis also are available to the city center for approximately RL1,200-1,500. There is a departure tax of RL1,500. Transiting passengers remaining in the airport are exempt from the departure tax.
Once inside Iran, transportation by private car (with driver) or with a guide (who will be assigned to keep tabs on you) is recommended.
