The radical Naga movement is considered the godfather of India's rebel factions and includes groups such as the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN), known for its massacres of civilians, namely ethnic Kukis. Naga militants are fighting for a separate homeland composed of Nagaland (in the northeast) and areas in adjacent states where Nagas have settled. Nagas in both Nagaland and adjacent Manipur charge that ethnic Kukis have settled on ancestral Naga land. The bloodbath in the northeast continues unabated. Other groups include United National Liberation Front of Manipur and the National Democratic Front of Tripura.
