Almost half the 20 - 40,000 people trapped and being bombarded inside Grozny were Russians. When Basayev took over a Russian hospital in Budyonnovsk in June 1995 the Russian special forces splatters dozens of screaming Russian hostages in their failed efforts to kill terrorists. Same story when Radayev got busy in Kizliar in January 1996. Russian forces killed hundreds of Russians in their efforts to win them back. Most of the Russian troops in Chechnya are dog assed farm boys conscripted into the Russian army, forced to pay protection money to their officers and even for food. Fun place huh?
