Travel in areas of Siem Reap province outside the Angkor complex can be highly dangerous, as bandits prey upon large parcels of the province. Visitors traveling outside urban areas are urged by Western embassies to exercise caution and restrict travel to daylight hours and only in vehicle convoys to enhance security.
