And speaking of salaries, Brazil's 750 federal judges staged a one-day walkout on March 17, 1999, over foot-dragging on the implementation of a promised salary increase for the magistrates. The government-pledged raise? One hundred times the minimum official salary. If the judges don't get what they want, expect a lot of hung juries. Literally.
