It is hard if not impossible to tell the "boys" from the boys. The "boys" is how the locals describe the fighters who fought for the last decade against the PNGDF troops. Just about anyone between the age of 10 and 40 can be considered a former rebel. There is still much bad blood between the government, BRA and Ona factions on the island. This is exacerbated by the lack of jobs, economic incentives and infrastructure, as well as old feuds.
The rebels come down to the village to do their shopping every day. How can you tell who the rebels are? Look for the scrape marks on the side of the vehicles.
