Hospitals and clinics in Algeria are available, but limited in quality. Your best bet is to ask to be taken to the Ain Naadja Military hospital in the suburbs of Algiers. If you have the choice or the time, ask to be taken to a military hospital instead of the closest public one. You may find a hand grenade in your bed pan. If you are seriously wounded, you stand a better chance by being flown out to nearby France, Britain or Germany. Medicines can be difficult to get and expensive. Don't expect much outside of the major cities. A 24-hour chemist is at 19 rue Abane Ramdone, Tel 63-36-31 or 2 rue Didouche Mourad, Tel 63-47-43. There is a civilian hospital; Hôpital Mustopha near place de Mer, Tel 66-33-33 (ambulance also available at this number).
