The man who thought that pyramid schemes were a sound basis for an economy. Now heading up the opposition, he spends most of his time sulking in the north of the country and wondering if it's time to make a comeback. Charismatic Berisha played hardball during the unrest but finally gave in to demands that he set up an interim government until new elections could be held. He's a lucky guy. On June 4, 1997, someone chucked a grenade at Berisha during a campaign appearance. The assailant's aim was perfect, but he forgot to pull the pin-or, in the Albaniac tradition of weapons proficiency, perhaps didn't realize there was a pin that needed to be pulled.
