The south is much calmer these days. The boys in blue might be stretched in a bit of a thin line, but they are still there . . . ready to go off duty at a moment's notice. There are still at least 500,000 unaccounted for weapons floating round he country. Efforts by the police to arrest unauthorized and armed men have met with little success. But generally speaking, there is less risk traveling in the south.
