Fine during the day. It's after dark that you should be careful. The number of foreigners-including foreign police officers helping to train the Albanian police-who have had vehicles stolen at gunpoint is considerable. Definitely not advisable to carry large quantities of cash. The slight hitch is that credit cards are rarely accepted. The Tirana International hotel does accept credit cards, though. Muggings and theft are common.
